SHARPECPA

Sharpe CPA  /  For CPAs

Tools built by someone who signs returns.

I have been doing this work since 1981 and writing software for longer than that. These are the programs I wanted and could not buy, opened up to the people doing the same work I do.

Applications

What you get with an account.

One sign-in covers everything. Applications run inside your portal account, so your work stays with you between sessions rather than living in a browser tab.

Tax & engagement

Estimated tax safe harbor

Prior-year and current-year tests side by side, with the quarterly instalments that follow from each.

Penalty & interest estimator

Failure to file, failure to pay and interest, run out over the months the client actually sat on it.

Entity comparison

S corporation against LLC against schedule C, on one set of numbers, including payroll tax.

Audit & government

Materiality & sample size

Planning materiality, performance materiality and the sample the conclusion needs.

Audit & government

Major program determination

Type A and type B thresholds and the coverage rule, for a single audit that will hold up.

Practice

Rate & realization

What a billing rate has to be before overhead, write-downs and the hours nobody bills for.

Nothing here is finished yet, and each one says so. When one opens I will say what it costs before you are asked for a card.

Downloads

The free ones.

Not everything needs a subscription. Utilities that stand on their own get posted here as downloads, free, for anyone with an account.

Software downloads

The download library

Free utilities, posted as they are finished. Sign in to the portal and they are on the Software page.

Free Opening soon

Have something you keep rebuilding in Excel every season? Tell me — that is usually what the next one turns out to be.

How it works

Three steps, no salesperson.

1 · Open an account

Name, email address and a password. That account is also your secure document portal, so it earns its keep from the first day.

2 · Subscribe to what you use

Applications are on subscription; downloads are free. You add and drop them yourself, and the card details never touch my server.

3 · Ask me things

There is a person behind this. If an application gets an answer you disagree with, say so — you will be arguing with the man who wrote it.

Field notes

The mistakes that have haunted me.

Every one of them cost somebody something. Written down plainly so a younger CPA can read it in five minutes instead of learning it the way I did. Free, and they always will be.
